Vehicles
Grand Theft Auto is a video game franchise created by Rockstar. In it players control criminal characters in a fictionalised version of America. Motorcycles have featured as vehicles since the very first game. They are in almost every subsequent installment.
These vehicles are more convenient to use when compared to cars since they give players the ability to weave through busy traffic. This allows them to travel much faster. Motorbikes can also be driven up steep ramps to achieve jump stunt bonuses.
When GTA: Vice City was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002 it was the first game in the series to show bikes in rendered 3D. One of the first missions involves stealing a chopper type motorcycle from a stereotypical greaser character. The bike is is needed in order to serve as a status symbol.
Missions
There is also a side game where the player can work part time as a pizza boy. A timer counts down as the map shows where the fast food must be given out. Money is given for each successful delivery. The bikes for this side game are slower in order to make it more callenging.
When GTA 4 was released it was followed by an expansion pack with a whole new story. It was called The Lost and Damned. It focuses on a character called Johnny who is part of a motorcycle club. He is tasked with a number of dangerous missions in order to keep his organisation afloat.
This game uses biker cultural as a key theme throughout. When the player rides out on his motorcycle he can be followed by other members of the gang. They can then achieve tasks which will benefit the club. Players can also upgrade their bike to a better model and change its colour.
